Current macroeconomic models often fail to adequately address the complex interactions between trade and climate policies due to limited data, reliance on traditional theories and insufficient representation of developing countries in trade. The EU-funded ENTICE project aims to enhance understanding of the impacts of trade and trade policy on climate and the environment. By combining macroeconomic modelling with new trade theories, empirical analysis and detailed data, the project will primarily focus on emissions and climate change, while also addressing broader issues such as biodiversity, pollution and natural resource depletion. The work programme will develop a theoretical framework for the interactions between trade, climate and industry while also improving the granularity of the GTAP database.
